K2 was created in 1997 as a boutique management consulting firm to help a limited set of clients in strategy and management issues. Over time, some of our clients started hiring K2 for businesses’ creation and turnarounds, which allowed K2 to build a unique track-record of successful projects in Brazil.

- Spin-off of Avaya Communication from Lucent Technologies’ ENG in Brazil: market strategy, organization and processes
- Merger of Net and Multicanal, thus creating GloboCabo – the largest pay-TV operation in Latin America
- Turnaround of Estácio de Sá, the second largest private held university in the world with 200k undergraduate students – from R$ 55 million EBITDA in 2005 to R$ 160 million in 2007 (same stores)

Atrium Telecom
- K2Â led the design, planning and implementation of the start-up and held a seat in the board throughout the transaction life
- The deal was funded by Advent, GE Capital and JP Morgan (US$ 20 million)
- Awarded the fastest growing Brazilian company in 2003, Atrium was the most successful BLEC (building-local exchange carrier) in Brazil with 335 buildings, 2K clients and 60k terminals under control
- Atrium was sold to Telefonica in December 2004, successfully delivering top returns to its investors
Direkt
- In 2004, K2 acquired Direkt from RBS (one of the largest media groups in Brazil) and immediately put in place a turnaround plan -- in only three months the company registered its first profit and revenues’ record
- Direkt was one of the five largest direct marketing services provider in Brazil (US$ 5 million plus annual revenues), operating in database management, sales effectiveness improvement, client reward programs, clients retention, market research and other data processing direct marketing services
- In 2009, Direkt merged with Direct Talk, a portfolio company from Rio Bravo fund
CMI
- CMI was a joint venture between K2 (50%) and a group of physicians created to deliver integrated healthcare services to a regional healthcare plan -- a built to suit company
- CMI offers consultation, selected exams, ambulatory services, critical patient (high cost) programs, hospitalization supervision and other healthcare services in the city of São Bernardo do Campo
- CMI was implemented by K2 in only three months, including facilities development and the hiring of more than 100 physicians
- The company was under K2 management until July 2008 when it was transferred back to the operator’s group
UniSaúde
- K2Â was hired to supervise some projects in the health care sector in Angola
- In addition K2, together with a local group (GESA) and with equal shares, is building up the first Angola’s health care plan
Grupo Alana
- Biblion, SuperPedido and GiroTrade are a group of companies in the logistics sector (sales and operation of books and supermarket items) with annual revenues over US$ 50 million
- K2Â was hired to manage and turnaround these companies
